Whether you are an experienced wingshooter, or new to the sport, we invite you to join us for some amazing hunting at our lodge here in Argentina.

Dove hunters feel the adrenaline start pumping when they see what we have to offer. The dove population here is in the millions. When you are in the field, you will have shot after shot available, and it just never seems to end. Since there are so many doves and very little local hunting pressure, doves have been designated as a pest. They can really wreak havoc on the soybean, corn and wheat crops so everyone is happy to see hunters coming in to help lower the dove population. For you, that means mornings and afternoons of hot-barreled action as flocks fly by overhead.

Pigeons, like doves, number in the millions here. We have a perfect breeding ground – lots of large crops nearby for them to feed on the soybeans, alfalfa, corn and wheat. They will also flock to the olive groves and are able to do a lot of damage. We will place you in a comfortable blind between the wood areas where the pigeons roost, and the crops where they feed. You can catch them in the morning going one direction and in the afternoon as they return. Pigeons are easily attracted to decoys, so you will have ongoing shot opportunities. In fact, you will probably use two shotguns; this enables you to switch when the action is especially strong, so that you can use one gun while the other cools.

Perdiz hunting offers an interesting alternative to our other wingshooting activities. Perdiz are small birds very similar to the partridge, and they live in the grass of the rolling hills and countryside in this area. They are challenging in that they seem to have nerves of steel; you can walk up on one and almost step on it before it takes flight. We hunt perdiz over pointing dogs. Our dogs are highly trained English Setters, and they receive a “refresher” course each year in the spring prior to the beginning of the season. It’s fun to watch the dogs do their work, but it’s also very exciting when the perdiz flushes and you quickly take your shot. We have some of the best perdiz hunting in the world here in Argentina.

Each year, many clients return to our lodge because of the duck hunting opportunities. In Argentina, there are approximately thirty different types of ducks, and many of them can be seen here in this area. Like our other birds, the duck hunting here is exciting because of the very large duck population. A favorite among our clients is the Rosy-billed Pochard, identified by its red bill and known for its acrobatic flight patterns. Our “rosies” will be a challenge for you, and your wingshooting skills will improve as a result. Even with their sport flying, you will most likely reach your limit on ducks each day (20). When that happens, we will switch to doves or pigeons. The hunting opportunities are endless.

In addition to the world-class hunting, we have a variety of other activities to keep you busy:
  • Bird watching – Obviously with the large variety of birds here, bird watchers are in heaven. Bring your camera, video camera or binoculars for some great sightings.
  • Horseback riding – The open fields and hills are an endless expanse of room to ride our fine horses. It’s a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.
  • Fishing – Very near the lodge is the Parana River, which offers some fantastic fishing opportunities for dorado and piranha.
  • Golf – We have a driving range so that your swing stays in shape even on vacation.
  • Swimming – Take a dip in the pool, or spend the morning there if you wish. We also have a Jacuzzi available for our guests, and an exercise room for those who wish to work out.
A vacation here at Los Ombues will be like nothing you have experienced before. We look forward to serving you as our guest.
